About John Speziale

John Speziale is a singer/songwriter residing in Stonington, CT. His songs, which have been described as “timeless… as if they’ve been around for a long time,” are flavored by the folk, rock and roll, country and jazz music which he has enjoyed his entire life. His lyrics turn a mostly sympathetic (if sometimes darkly humorous) eye on the human condition.

Born and raised in Northwestern Connecticut, John has also lived in Baltimore, MD, and on Boston’s North Shore. He has performed both solo and in bands all over New England. A few years ago his albums and performances made him “almost famous,” he says, before he took some time off from the music business to concentrate on “family matters and making a home.”

His Music, And The New Album

John’s varied influences include Bob Dylan, John Lennon, John Prine, Randy Newman, Tom Waits, and even Captain Beefheart. His taste is eclectic. His record collection includes “lots of Sixties stuff, some country swing, blues, and contemporary acts like Bright Eyes, Amy Winehouse, Fall Out Boy and Circle Takes the Square.”

John’s new album is titled Some Things Have Happened Since We Last Spoke, a double CD featuring an “acoustic” set and an”electric” set. The songs represent his ability to create melodies and turn phrases that will stay in your head some time after you hear them. These songs and others from his catalog are currently available to musical artists seeking new and original material.

Recently John has begun the process of putting a crack band together with the goal of once again taking his songs to live audiences.
